Shiv Sena today demanded that Maharashtra Government should change the name of Bombay High Court to Mumbai High Court.
Raising the issue in the Legislative Council, senior Sena MLC Diwakar Raote said, "It is a question of our pride and the Government should change the name."
Raote said a few years ago, he was assured by the then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh that the name would be changed.

Government is mulling a proposal to merge Ranchi-based Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) with the loss-making Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), a union leader claimed on Tuesday.

The central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) will soon have to earmark up to 5 per cent of their net profit for social sector projects with the government proposing to issue corporate social responsibility (CSR) guidelines for the state-owned firms.

Revenue minister Narayan Rane appears to have realised it is better to remain a silent spectator to survive in the Congress.
Not surprisingly, he has taken the back seat, leaving it to the discretion of the state Congress and the NCP leadership to decide the candidates for the by-elections in the state legislature council from his hometown in the Konkan region.

While education for the city's underprivileged children is of utmost importance, it is equally exigent that they get regular, nutritious meals.
Recognising this, The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF), a Bangalore-based NGO that operates the world's largest privately run midday meal programme, is planning to set up a centralised kitchen in the city.
It will cater to the city's state-run schools, as well as to NGOs conducting child education programmes.

In their plumed helmets, dark blue tunics with shiny brass buttons, trousers and rubber gumboots, Mumbai's firefighters cut a dash as they ride the streets on their ageing red engines.
But the time has now come for them to hang up the uniforms whose design has remained unchanged for nearly 100 years to meet the demands of 21st century fire-fighting.
"The woollen uniform we have been using dates back to British (colonial) times," said divisional fire officer P S Rahangdale.
A lot of improvement is required in terms of resources, equipment and manpower. There's a huge deficiency. After 60 years of independence we really need to upgrade -V Deshmukh
